Hey, me again! :) In this post I just want to share my exploring to a Green City of Turkey, Bursa. This city is three hours of sea lanes from Istanbul. In Ottoman Empire, Bursa was ever became capital before it was changed to Istanbul (1326-1365). And in Bursa there is a mountain called Uludağ and became tourist destination in Winter. Because there, people can do snow skiing. I came to Bursa before snow, so I just spend the time in the town. Bursa also has a big mosque that's also the icon of the city. This mosque located in the middle of town and we can see it from every corner of Bursa. It was called Ulucami. Ulu means Big and cami means Mosque. Ulucami was built by ordered of Sultan Yıldırım Beyazit (136-1399) and designed by Ali Neccar. If Sultan had win the war at that time, he would build 20 mosques. However then, Sultan's son in law, Emir Sultan, suggested to change the 20 mosque to one mosque that has 20 domes. That's why, today, Ulucami has 20 domes. Inside of the mosque there is a big fountain that's used for taking ablution. This fountain also had story. The mosque was built on the people's land. Government bought the land from them, but most people just gave it without took any money due to on the land will build a mosque. However, there was a woman didn't want to give her land even government wanted to pay it. The half mosque was just built, but government didn't built the part of woman's land. Because on a land that was not given sincerely can not use to pray, so government made a fountain. Despite after the mosque built, that woman regretted and asked government to destroyed the fountain. Unfortunately, it was too late. Wallahualam. Besides the unique stories this mosque also has a beautiful architecture. It has 90 calligraphy on the wall and roof, 45 window's carving that was made by 21 famous calligraphy designers. In the front, there's a rostrum called Taç Kapısı. It was made by canary tree without any nails on it. This Abdulaziz bin Mehmet's masterpiece was became special too because the carving on rostrum's body show the universe with solar system, planets, and exact distance whereas at that time the exact distance interplanetary didn't know yet. How was it? I just can not describe this incredible mosque any more. The beauty, the love, the feel of stories, you have to come and live it by yourself. I ensure you will not regret it! So, what? Take your bags and explore it!!!!! :D The truth is, the footsteps of the one who reached the top were no bigger than YOURS. But they'd just gone on putting those small footsteps one after the other.

Yay! I've finally passed the Autumn (my first Autumn). As a tropical-bloody-girl, autumn became so special for me. You can't imagine how was I being too enthusiastic to enjoy the falling leaves. Taking pictures as much as I passed any park with yellow-brown trees. May be it was little excessive, but yeah, that's me. And that was my first Autumn! :D Some weeks before Autumn really gone, I and my classmate decided to take one free day to explore Istanbul together. We went to Galata tower, one of the chosen tourist destination in Turkey. Just payed 6 TL, we went up to the roof. This tower is 69 meters and was built in 528 years ago by Byzantium. And there was also a story about a Turkish called Ahmet Çelebi that flied from the roof with artificial wings and crossed the Bosphorus Strait for 6 km and landed in Üsküdar. Galata has amazing view from it's roof. The Strait looked like splitting Turkey into two part. I could see all Turkey with the Blue Mosque, Hağia Sophia, and Topkapı Palace stand in a row. And in the end of horizon there was a white line with fog closed the town. Because the weather was so cold, we decided to go down and walked through Gülhane Park, the park is exactly beside the Topkapı Palace. We just walked around, went to a cafe and order Sahlep. Sahlep is special drink when Winter near up. İt's made from milk with cinnamon's topping on it. Hot, melting, delicious, and the best drink in the middle of cold day. This exploring was closed by a walked to Kapalı çarşı, Grand Bazaar, one of the largest and the oldest covered market in the world which has 3000 shops inside and was visited 300.000 tourist daily. Can you imagine it?
So, if you come to Istanbul and not come to this market, it just like you never go to Turkey. Interested to visit? I am more interested in waiting the snow! :D In this post I just want to share a little fact about my name. I am JM. Vivi Violina. An ordinary girl from Indonesia recently studying in Turkey. Actually, since I was child everyone always had the same question about my name. What does JM means? And I kind of bored to answer all the questions. So, every time they asked, I'd always answer that was my father's name due to that's really my father's name. So, what's my answer? JM is my father's name. Jason Mraz! :D And after I answered everyone would has the same expression "(-_-)" ^.^ When I was in junior high school some of my friends also made a joke of JM. They said actually that!s "really" my father's name - Jaja Miharja - he was a dangdut singer of my country and if you ask me who is he? That he is... So, can you really compare Jason Mraz with Jaja Miharja? I can't!
The fact ofJM.. JM is actually my parent's initial name. J is for my Father and M is for my Mom. Unique? I know. :) Before I came to Turkey there was never any problem with the spell of the name. Everyone always called me Vivi (Fifi). But in Turkey I was called Wiwi. It's OK as long as they never make another joke for the name. Vivi actually is not Indonesian language, it is Latin. The meaning is 'Life'. And Violina comes from English word, Violin. So, in my full name there is no word from my own language. It's just look like, international! :D :D Sometimes the name also presents problem to me. Some people asked, "Why does your name not come from any Arabic. Are you a Moslem?" And I just, smiled. So, that's a little fact about my unusual Indonesian name. Have you got yours? Share with me... :) |
